About AAAAAA

This series of paintings approaches the grotesque in a carnivalesque perspective, the figures are created by joining parts presenting a hybrid and changing nature, exploring new territories.

If we think that the grotesque is better perceived for its effects, rather than its definition; the border of the grotesque, thus, becomes the space between the subject who perceives the work and the perceived work, being generated when the image touches the subject, intruding on the viewer's reality and creating sensations that contribute to their identity and self-training.

In the words of Frances Connelly, “By joining categories and fields of action, the grotesque takes us to a liminal state of multiple possibilities. It provokes contradictory and conflicting responses by bringing together the unexpected and the disparate, merging irreconcilable realities... To apprehend the grotesque, it is essential to understand it as being "at stake"... the grotesque represents a state of change, opening up what we know and merging it with the unknown."
